Every event can have its own reminder. While you are creating or editing an event, just switch to the Reminder tab in the left menu. Turn on whichever of the three channels you like, and set the timing to suit you. Here is how it works, step by step.

Open the Reminder tab
When you open an event, you will see the Reminder tab in the left menu. Inside, three channels greet you: In-app reminder, Desktop reminder, and Email reminder. You can switch each one on or off independently and use as many at once as you like.

In-app reminder
The most basic channel is the in-app reminder, and it is on for every plan. Flip the switch and Pumpynotes can alert you right inside the app at exactly the moment you chose. For a timed event you can pick how many minutes ahead you want to hear about it (10 minutes before, for example), while for an all-day event you can set the time the reminder arrives.

The timing option changes with the type of event: for a timed event you choose "how many minutes or hours before" (15 minutes before, for example), while for an all-day event you choose "at what time" (10:00, for example). You can see both in the examples below.

Desktop reminder
If you want an alert in your computer's notification area even when the Pumpynotes tab is closed, the desktop reminder is just right for you. This channel unlocks on the Pro plan. Once you upgrade to Pro, you can turn it on with a single switch like the other channels, set its timing, and try it out right away with Send test notification if you like.

Email reminder
If you want to see important events in your inbox too, you can turn on the email reminder. You set up your SMTP connection once, and after that Pumpynotes sends the reminder to the address you specified, at the time you chose, all on its own. This channel unlocks on the Business plan.

Set your default times
Choosing the same setting again for every event can get tiring. In Settings › Reminders, you set your default times once: how many minutes ahead for timed events, and at what time for all-day events. From then on your new events arrive with these settings automatically, so there is no need to fiddle with each one.

You can turn on several channels together for the same event: for example, both in-app and desktop. Set the timing of each one separately, so you might get an email two hours ahead and a desktop alert fifteen minutes before.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which reminder comes with which plan?
The in-app reminder is available on every plan, including Free. The desktop reminder unlocks on Pro, and the email reminder on the Business plan.
Can I add more than one reminder to an event?
Yes. You can use the channels that are active on your plan together, and set a separate time for each.
Can I change the reminder time later?
Yes. Open the event, switch to the Reminder tab, and update the time. Your default times can be changed under Settings › Reminders.
How do reminders work for all-day events?
For all-day events you choose a specific time rather than "how many minutes before." The default time from Settings is used, and you can change it for each event individually.
