Link a spend to an event

A team dinner, a concert ticket or a holiday booking: when an event costs money, record it from inside the event. The transaction goes to the Finance page, stays linked to the event, and each side reaches the other with one click.

An event can have money attached: the bill for a team dinner, a concert ticket, the hotel for a trip. The Spend action in the event editor records that amount straight from the event. The record is a normal finance transaction; the only difference is that it is linked to the event. The link is visible and clickable from both sides.

1
Click "Spend" in the event
While creating or editing an event you will find the Spend action in the editor. Click it and a new transaction form opens, already linked to the event, with the event name and date filled in.

Fill in the transaction as usual
Set the type (income or expense), amount, category and wallet the way you always do, then save. The transaction is added to the Finance page; the only difference is the event link on it. You can link as many transactions to one event as you like.

A linked-event badge on the Finance page
On the Finance page, transactions linked to an event carry a linked-event badge. Click the badge and the event opens in the calendar. If you delete the event, only the link goes; the transaction stays on the Finance page.

You do not have to enter the spend in one go. Link the booking today and the remaining payment on the day of the event as separate transactions; they all gather under the same event.

Frequently asked questions

Can I link several transactions to one event?
Yes. Link as many income or expense rows to the same event as you like; each is its own row on the Finance page and all carry the same badge.
If I delete the event, is the transaction deleted too?
No. Deleting the event only removes the link; the transaction stays on the Finance page as it is.
Does a linked transaction also show as a money card on the calendar?
Yes. A linked transaction is still a normal finance transaction; it appears as a money card on its date, and the event card shows the spend row as well.
Which plans include this?
All of them. The finance module is on every plan including Free, so linking a spend to an event is open to everyone.
