You've opened Pumpy, the cursor is blinking and you can't think of what to write. In this guide we've collected requests for your calendar, notes and spending that you can copy and use right away. All of them are things Pumpy can really do today. To copy a request, just click the text inside the card; the whole text gets selected. You can find where to open Pumpy in Pumpy: your AI assistant, and the chat page and your past conversations in Chat with Pumpy.

1
Write a good request
You can write to Pumpy the way you'd write to a friend. Mention three things and you'll get a much more accurate answer: what you want (meetings, a note, grocery spending), which time range (this week, last month, October 1 to 15) and how you want to see it (three bullet points, a short paragraph, largest to smallest).
If you say "this note" to Pumpy in the right panel while a note is open, Pumpy reads that note. On the Pumpy page there is no open note, so there you need to type the note's name. Pumpy knows today's date and turns phrases like "tomorrow" or "last month" into the right dates.
Find the notes from my meetings with Olivia last month and summarize the decisions as bullet points
Summarize this note in three bullet points
List my spending from October 1 to 15 by category, largest to smallest
In the chat, answers come as plain text, lists and bold text; Pumpy doesn't draw tables there. If you want to turn a piece of text into a table, use Turn into table in the Pumpy box in your note.
2
Requests for your calendar
Pumpy looks at your calendar and answers questions about it right away. When you want to add or change an event, it first shows an approval card; your calendar doesn't change until you press Approve. If you change a recurring event, the change applies to the whole series; marking a recurring event as completed is something you do yourself in the calendar.

Requests for your notes
In the chat, Pumpy searches your notes by title and content, reads a note and summarizes it; with your approval it creates a new note or adds to the end of a note. When you want it to rewrite a note from scratch, the approval card shows the warning "This replaces the whole content of the note."; if you want to keep the note, saying "add to the end" is safer.

When you select some text and press Pumpy in the toolbar, the box that opens has Summarize, Improve writing, Fix spelling, Shorten, Turn into table and Turn into events ready to go. If you don't select anything, Pumpy works with the whole note. If you want something other than the ready-made actions, type it in the Ask Pumpy... field:

Requests for your spending
Pumpy looks at the income and expenses in the wallets you can see; it tells you totals, the breakdown by category and individual transactions. When you ask it to record or correct a transaction, an approval card comes first here too. If you have more than one wallet, say in your request which one to use. These records only update your ledger in Pumpynotes; no real money moves.

Record or correct
I spent $4.50 on coffee today, record it
Change yesterday's $45 grocery expense to $54
Add this month's salary of $4,200 as income to the Bank wallet
Pumpy can't create or edit recurring transactions; it only records and changes one-time transactions. You edit recurring transactions yourself on the finance page.

Combine several tasks in one request
Pumpy can take several steps in one request: first it looks at your calendar or your spending, then it prepares a note from what it found. It still asks about changes one by one, with a separate approval card for each. It takes at most six steps per request; every lookup, every approval card and the final answer each count as a step. For a task with many parts, you'll get cleaner results if you split it into a few short requests.

What Pumpy can't do

Some requests won't work, however well they're written. If you ask Pumpy for these, it tells you it can't do them.

  • Deleting. It can't delete events, notes or transactions. You do the deleting yourself in the app.
  • Other workspaces. It only sees the workspace you're in at the moment and the records you can see.
  • Searching the internet. It can't fetch outside information such as the weather, the news or exchange rates; it only works with your own records.
  • Reading files and images. You can't attach files or images to the chat. When it reads a note in the chat, it also can't see the images in the note or the contents of tables; it only reads the text.
  • Changes without approval. It can't change any record without your approval on the approval card.

Frequently asked questions

What do I do if Pumpy misunderstands me?

Press Decline on the approval card; nothing changes and Pumpy asks what you want. Then write your request more clearly: add the date, the time or the note's name. In the Pumpy box inside a note, you can close a result you don't like with Discard, and undo a result you added to the note with Ctrl+Z. If a card is no longer valid, you see the warning "This change can no longer be approved. Ask Pumpy again."; just write your request again.

Can I ask in another language?

Yes. Pumpy answers in whatever language you write to it in. The Pumpy box inside a note also works in the language of the text; if you want it translated into another language, type something like "Translate this into French" in the Ask Pumpy... field.

How much of my allowance does one request use?

There's no fixed amount; it depends on how much Pumpy reads and writes for that request. A short question like "What time is my first meeting tomorrow?" uses a very small part of your allowance. Asking it to rewrite a long note or look through a wide date range, or sending a request with several steps, uses more. You can see how much you've used, as a percentage, in the Usage line below the chat. For details, see Track your Pumpy allowance and buy extra credits.

Why do the suggestions on the welcome screen change?

When you open a new conversation, you see four ready-made suggestions on the "How can I help you today?" screen, and they're ordered by the section you're in: calendar suggestions come first when you're in the calendar, note suggestions when you're in your notes; finance suggestions appear when you're in the finance section. When you press a suggestion, it's sent straight to Pumpy. You can copy and paste the requests in this guide the same way.

Do finance requests work on every plan?

Yes. Finance is available on all plans; you can ask Pumpy about your spending on every plan, including Free. Pumpy only looks at the wallets you can see, and it can only record transactions in wallets where you can add transactions.
