In Pumpynotes, payment for paid subscriptions is handled by our secure payment partner Paddle. In this article you'll learn how payments work, how to access your invoices, how to manage your plan, how to cancel your subscription anytime, and how refunds work.
How do payments work?
All paid subscriptions are sold and processed by Paddle, acting as the Merchant of Record. This means payments, billing, subscription renewals, and taxes including VAT are handled by Paddle.
- Secure payment: Your card details are processed directly on Paddle's secure checkout. Pumpynotes never sees or stores your full card number.
- Monthly or yearly: You can choose to be billed monthly or yearly. Paying yearly works out to two months free.
- Tax and invoice: Applicable taxes are calculated by Paddle based on your country and reflected on your invoice.
You can compare plans and current prices on the pricing page. A paid subscription can only be started by the owner or an admin of your workspace.
Your invoices and receipts
You can easily access the receipt for every payment:
- By email: Paddle sends you a receipt email after every successful payment.
- In the app: In Settings → Billing you can view your payment history and download the PDF receipt for each successful payment from the Receipt link.
If your invoice needs additional details such as a company name or tax number, or if you have a specific request about an invoice, these changes are made by Paddle; you can get in touch with Paddle through the links in the receipt email Paddle sends you.
Managing your subscription
You manage everything about your subscription from the Settings → Billing page. From here you can see your current plan, your billing cycle, and your next renewal date. Billing actions can be performed by the owner or an admin of your workspace.
- Change plan: You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. The change takes effect immediately, and the charge is prorated based on the remaining time. When moving to a lower plan, if your team exceeds that plan's user limit, you'll need to remove members first.
- Update payment method: You can change your card with "Update payment method." This is also done on Paddle's secure checkout; your card details never reach our app.
Cancelling your subscription
You can cancel your subscription anytime. On the Settings → Billing page, press "Cancel subscription." The cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period:
- All features stay active until the end of the period you've paid for; your access is not cut off.
- When the period ends, your subscription ends, your workspace returns to the Free plan, and no new payment is taken.
- If you want to undo the cancellation before the period ends, "Resume subscription" on the same page picks your subscription back up where it left off.
Unless you cancel, your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period. If you need help cancelling, you can reach us at [email protected].
If your payment fails
If a payment can't be taken at renewal (for example, if your card has expired), Paddle automatically retries the payment for a period of time and notifies you by email. Your access continues during this retry period. To fix the issue, all you need to do is update your payment method from the Settings → Billing page. If the payment still can't be taken during this period, your subscription ends and your workspace returns to the Free plan; this is why it's important to keep your payment method up to date. If you run into a technical problem with a payment, you can get in touch with our payment provider Paddle through the links in your receipt email.
Refunds
Under our Refund Policy, if you're not satisfied for any reason you can request a refund within 14 days of each payment. This applies to both the initial purchase and renewal payments, on monthly and yearly plans.
- How to request: Reach us within 14 days at [email protected]; writing from the email associated with your account and including your plan and approximate purchase date will speed things up. If you prefer, you can also use the refund link in the receipt email Paddle sends you.
- How it's processed: The refund is processed by Paddle in the transaction's original currency and to the original payment method. Depending on your bank, the amount usually appears in your account within 5-10 business days.
- Your legal rights: If you are a consumer in the European Union or anywhere else that grants a statutory right of withdrawal, those rights apply in addition to this policy.
