Track and manage your notifications

When a new notification arrives, a small number appears on the bell in the top right; it shows how many notifications you haven't seen yet. Click the bell to open your six newest notifications, and the number resets as soon as the panel opens.

Every notification takes you straight to the right place. Click a shared note and the note opens, click a support reply and your request opens, click a reminder and you see that day in your calendar. When a new version of Pumpynotes comes out, a See what's new row also appears here; click it to read what's changed.

If you want to change your notification sound or email preferences, the gear icon in the top right of the panel takes you straight to your notification settings.

To look back at older notifications, click All notifications at the bottom of the bell panel. On the page that opens, three tabs on the left sort your notifications by type:

All notifications: shares, support replies, reminders that went off and release announcements in one list, newest first.
Reminders: reminders for the next seven days, plus the ones that just went off. Click one to jump to that day in your calendar.
Updates: what's new in Pumpynotes, release by release.

Notifications you haven't read yet stand out with a yellow background. To mark them all as read in one go, click the Mark all read button in the top right; it only shows up when you have unread notifications. When the list gets long, use Show more at the bottom to reach older ones.

Click the gear in the bell panel or go to Settings › Notifications; both take you to the same page. In the In-app section, while Notification sound is on, Pumpynotes plays the tone you picked whenever a new notification or reminder arrives. The sound only plays while Pumpynotes is open in a tab. If you like to work in silence, you can turn the switch off.

If you keep the sound on, you can pick one of six tones: Ding, Soft, Tick, Chime, Bell and Pop. Click a tone to hear it right away. When you drag the Volume slider and let go, you hear your tone at that level too.

Your sound settings are saved in the browser you're using, not in your account. When you open Pumpynotes on another computer or browser, the sound starts at its default, the Ding tone; you can pick your own tone there as well.

The Email preferences section on the same page has two switches. With Updates and announcements on, you get emails about new features and important announcements. With Guides and tips emails on, we send you guides we've picked from the help center to help you get more out of the app. Both are on by default; if you don't want one, just turn its switch off and your choice is saved instantly.

Emails your account needs aren't affected by these switches: email verification, password reset, security and billing emails, and support replies always arrive. Alerts for events you've set an email reminder for keep coming too.
