Whenever you want to take a note, event or expense back to how it was before you changed it, you can check the History page. Pumpynotes keeps your changes there day by day; you can see what changed and undo any change you like with a single click. History is available on all plans.

Open History
You can get to History by clicking the clock icon in the menu on the left. When you hover over the icon, its name appears too. On your phone, open the profile menu in the top right and tap History.
On the page that opens, your most recent change sits at the top; scroll down to see older ones. Only your own changes are listed here; edits by other people in your workspace don't appear.

Read and filter the list
Changes are grouped by day: Today at the top, Yesterday below it, and older days show that day's date. Each row shows what you changed, what changed about it (for example Date changed) and the time. If a date, time, title or amount changed, the old value is crossed out and the new value sits right next to it. The small dot on the left of the row shows the type of change: a green dot means something was added, a red dot means something was deleted, and a dot in the accent color means an edit.
If you're looking for a specific change, you can narrow the list with the filters at the top: Notes, Events, Finance or Settings. The Finance filter shows your transactions, wallets and categories together. When there are more than 50 changes, you can move between pages with the arrows at the bottom of the list.

Look over your changes
When you change a note's content or an event's description, the row only says Content updated or Description updated; you can't see what changed. To see it, click View changes: the Before and After versions of the text open side by side. That way you can be sure you're looking at the right change before you undo it. The same button also appears for notes you write on transactions.
If the text is very long, only the first part is shown. Clicking Hide changes is all it takes to close the comparison.

Undo a change with one click
Click Undo on the row you want to undo. Everything you saved together at that moment goes back to how it was: if you dragged an event and changed both its date and its time, both come back. The row you undid fades, and Undone appears where the button was.
You can also use Undo for things you added or deleted. If you undo a note, event or transaction you just added, it moves to the trash; wallets and categories are removed from the list instead. If you undo something you deleted, it goes back where it was. Notes, events and transactions come back as long as they're still in the trash; once they've been permanently deleted from there, they can't be brought back. When you undo a change to an expense or income, your wallet balance corrects itself too.

Undo without opening History
When you edit, drag or delete an event in the calendar, a short notification appears at the bottom of the screen; the same happens when you delete a note. If you've changed your mind, clicking Undo in the notification is all it takes. The notification stays on screen for 5 seconds after an edit and 8 seconds after a deletion; the thin line under it shows how much time you have left. You also get this notification when you edit a recurring event: whether you change only that day or the following ones, a single Undo restores both. When you delete just one day or the following occurrences of a recurring event, no notification appears; you can undo that change from History.
If you'd rather undo with the keyboard, you can press Ctrl + Z (Cmd + Z on a Mac) in Calendar or Finance. Pumpynotes undoes your most recent change on that page and shows on screen what it undid. In an open note, the same shortcut doesn't touch the note's content; it undoes your last change to something like its status or tags. While you're typing in a text field or inside a note, it only undoes the text you typed.

Notes, events and transactions you delete also wait in the trash for a while; from there you can restore them one by one or delete them permanently. We walk you through it in Restore something you deleted from the trash.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't some rows have Undo?
Undo only appears on the latest change to a field; on a row where something was added or deleted, it only appears if the item hasn't changed at all since. If you changed the same field again later, the older row can't be undone, because undoing it would overwrite your newer edit. If the item no longer exists, for example because it was also permanently deleted from the trash, the button doesn't appear either.
Why did I get a "can't be undone" message?
Most of the time it's because the same thing was edited again after that change; in that case Pumpynotes skips the undo so your newer version is kept. Undo also won't go through if the item was deleted in the meantime, or if you try to undo adding a wallet or category that transactions are now using.
Can I redo a change I undid?
No, there's no redo for a row you undid. If you want the change back, you'll need to make the same edit by hand.
Can I bring back a wallet or category I deleted?
Yes. Deleted wallets and categories don't show up in the trash, but you'll find them in History under the Finance filter. When you click Undo on the deletion row, a wallet comes back with the transactions in it, and a category comes back with its budget.
If I undo a deleted event, do its linked notes come back too?
The event comes back, but the links removed when it was deleted don't. You'll need to add back the notes and expenses you linked to it, along with the people you shared it with individually; sharing with your workspace stays as it was. The notes and expenses themselves aren't deleted; they stay right where they are.
Can I see changes other people in my workspace made?
No, History only lists the changes you made. If someone else edited an item you shared after you did, your older change can't be undone, so that their edit isn't overwritten.
Do changes I make through Claude or ChatGPT show up too?
Yes. When you add or edit notes, events, expenses or income with a connected AI assistant, those changes are listed in History under your name and can be undone the same way.
How long is History kept?
It depends on your plan: 7 days on Free, 14 on Pro, and 30 on Business and Enterprise. Entries older than that are deleted automatically every night; it's the same length of time items stay in the trash.
